Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer - Peekskill, NY
The Electrical/Instrumentation Engineer will provide E&I controls expertise to the Technical Organization by utilizing 5 + years of experience in engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Support the site manufacturing operations by leading the efforts related electrical, instrumentation and controls infrastructure reliability and improvement efforts, such as obsolescence and life cycle challenges, Arc Flash, Grounding & Bonding, and Calibration programs..
- Lead efforts to develop, design, execute and manage capital projects focused on improving electrical infrastructure, instrumentation, and controls throughout the site.
- Provide detailed engineering support for the E&I aspects of other capital projects.
- Support day-to-day troubleshooting activities to minimize downtime and achieve site objectives in the most safe, economical, and efficient manner.
- Identify opportunities for instrumentation and control improvements that will increase productivity, increase process repeatability, reduce cost, and/or reduce risk of employee exposure. Develop, justify, and implement projects to address.
- Work in parallel with other site E&I resources for electrical maintenance support of operations and to drive continuous improvement in the documentation and execution of the site’s Mechanical Integrity program with focus on E&I and Controls.
- Support the site’s efforts directed at the development and implementation of an automation strategy, identifying hardware and network architecture requirements.
- Participate in and/or lead teams in support of optimizing plant processes for quality, cost, reliability, and productivity.
Education & Experience:
- B.S. in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Experience in a process environment working with industrial electrical systems 480VAC to 5VDC and maintenance thereof.
- Specification, configuration, and operational troubleshooting of process control instrumentation.
- Process control network architecture.
- Working knowledge of the use and application of PLCs, DCS, and process data systems.
- Knowledge and experience in project management, structured and disciplined problem solving, and ability to act independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and be able to establish effective relationships quickly.
- Team player with robust communication skills (verbal and written) strong drive for results, and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Plus:
- Ability to lead all phases (scope development, cost estimating, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up) of capital projects.
- PE license
- Familiarity with Delta V configuration and hardware
- Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Salary Range for this position is $107K to $139K
