WSP USA is initiating a search for a Full-time Electrical Power Studies’ Manager for our New York office. Other office locations considered are New Jersey, Philadelphia and Virginia.
Provides technical assistance, report execution, management and guidance for our in-house team in order to execute Short Circuit, Coordination, Arc Flash Studies’ projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include pricing, planning, executing, directing, coordinating, managing, creating arc flash labels and final reports. Works with in-house team to execute, review, oversee SKM, EZ-Tap, EZ-Power single lines , models, analyses, scenarios and reports.
Substantiates data, analysis and reports regarding the systems and equipment, power studies. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry codes, standards and requirements.
Specific Requirements:
+ Proficient in Developing / Reviewing Short Circuit/Coordination/ Arc Flash Studies.
+ Certified Training with SKM and / or E-Tap, E-Z Power for Short Circuit /Coordination /Arc Flash programs.
+ Knowledge and experience with IEEE, NFPA-70E, and PPE.
+ Experience with 26kV, 5kV, 480v systems, switchgear and protection relays.
+ Experience with Uninterruptable Power Supply’s’ (UPS), Back Up Battery Systems, Static Switches (STS) and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Emergency Generators and Power Distribution Units (PDUs).
+ Good understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry.
+ Ability to work independently and provide supervision in a highly collaborative team environment.
Your Impact
+ Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site during various construction phases, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project.
+ Involved from project inception to completion for Arc Flash Report deliverables throughout the various project work phases including pricing, data gathering, data evaluation, modeling, analysis, final report and recommendations.
+ Assist with development and scoping of medium- to large-sized commissioning projects.
+ Provide guidance and training to entry-level to mid-level commissioning staff.
+ Prepare and / or assist with comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain the value of these services.
+ Adhere to site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
+ Interact with any applicable regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
+ Collaborate with other professionals, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on public and privately funded building improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
+ Remain current in latest power studies, standards, codes methods and requirements.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
+ 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience.
+ Proficient knowledge with building commissioning principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
+ Well-defined experience with building planning, design, and installation management; including active involvement in a variety of renovation and new design projects.
+ Working knowledge with smart building design.
+ Working knowledge of relevant building technology/system installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
+ Strong ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of testing and validation, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate standards or regulations.
+ Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
+ Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on various aspects of the installation and design of equipment, facilities, and systems.
+ Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.
+ Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
+ Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
+ Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Revit), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
+ Developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, load calculations, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
+ Ability to assertively direct others in the field such as subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s Degree is preferred.
+ Essential or enhancing professional licensure/certification.
+ Electrical Commissioning experience.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $99,800 - $132,200
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
