As an Electrical Project Engineer in our Overland Park, KS office, you will help us empower our clients to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing power industry through design and improvement of electrical systems for all types of facilities and generation technologies including reciprocating engines, simple and combined cycle combustion turbines, combined heat & power (CHP), solar, wind and energy storage systems.

In this role, you will work on projects ranging from designing or improving systems for utility scale generation facilities to central utility plants (electricity, steam, hot water, chilled water) for large campuses and healthcare facilities (District Energy / CHP), industrial/manufacturing facilities, large-scale data centers, and energy storage facilities.
Expertise of our most successful Electrical Project Engineer:
- BSEE (or other engineering discipline with applicable experience).
- 10+ years of experience in the consulting engineering industry for utility power plants, utility switchyards/substations, process/manufacturing facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, or governmental facilities. Ability to develop scope of work, conceptual design, detailed design, and execution plans.
- Ability to support proposals and assist in client sales presentations.
- Perform Lead Engineer duties on multi-discipline power and steam generation projects.
- Provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Experience with communicating with clients, partners and individuals at all levels within an organization.
Effective skills to help you flourish:
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in one or more states.
- Experience in substation design and power systems including specification of medium voltage (15kV – 69kV) and/or high voltage (69kV – 138kV) equipment, electrical components, fault and coordination studies, protection schemes and protective relays, and commonly used electrical design concepts, codes, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in computer operation for engineering calculation/selection software for engineering design programs (i.e. Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, SmartPlant, SmartPlant Electrical, or similar software).
- Experience in researching, compiling and presenting project data for client presentations, shop drawing review and contract administration as requested by the project managers.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Effective working in applications such as MS Excel, MS Word and Bluebeam. Quick technical comprehension and motivation focused on client outcomes.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively individually and within team environments.
