Position Description
As an Electrical Systems Engineer, you will directly contribute to scale-up activities of Energy Systems equipment and processes, manage, and monitor electrical hardware and systems controls for all manufacturing equipment. Working as part of the Energy Systems R&D team, you will lead teams to design, scale up, and plan production systems to be safe, cost-effective, sustainable, and meet quality requirements. Specifically, you will be focused on electrical requirements including transformer selection, high current and medium/high voltage systems, instrumentation and controls, and operation optimization of electrical systems.
This role is unique to the R&D team in that it combines manufacturing, maintenance, electrical safety, and standard operating practices (work orders, MOC, LOTO, etc.). Major challenges for this role will be incorporating practices into the R&D environment, integrating existing PLCs and DCS(s) systems, interacting with a team of operators, and coordinating experimentation with scientists and engineers across different functions. Additionally, this role will act as a liaison for large facility design of electrical systems and will act as an electrical systems engineering subject matter expert while engaging with internal and external vendors and stakeholders.
Position Requirements
--- BS in Electrical Engineering with some industrial experience is preferred.
--- Electrical systems experience, equipment integration, and design, low and medium voltage systems, rectifiers, and utility-scale experience.
--- Proficiency in direct current, transformer design/function, and related instrumentation.
--- Work experience with engineering firms, EPC firms, utilities (power companies), or equipment development (Eaton, Westinghouse, etc.).
--- Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a team player.
--- Ability to lead by example and effectively communicate operational information by means understandable to all levels of the ES organization is a must.
