We at The Structures Company have an opportunity for you as an Electrical Technician - Propulsion!
This position will be responsible for the hands-on development, fabrication, and modification of Hardware-In-The-Loop testing of propulsion avionics components (including Data Acquisition systems, controllers, valves, and test instrumentation) in Spaceship Propulsion.
This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail, excellent troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving skills in the field of electronics.
- Development test bench setups and fixtures per engineering specification, schematics, and requirements.
- Assemble electronics for Propulsion Component development, test, and qualification setups.
- Responsible for fabricating electronic hardware and systems, test & evaluation setups, wiring harnesses, and ground support equipment.
- Fabricating electrical harnesses to engineering schematics, drawings, and according to appropriate FAA AC 43.13-1B, D.O.D., or NASA standards.
- Designing, modifying, updating, and maintaining electrical schematics under engineering direction, including release thru Agile, or other configuration management systems.
- Execute procedures for calibration of electrical instrumentation such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gages, load cells, etc. Responsible for maintaining calibration records on sensors, data acquisition Instrumentation, & test equipment.
- Development and modification of electronic control, and indicator panels/boxes per engineering requirements.
- Specification and installation of strain gages, strain gage amplifiers, and associated hardware per engineering requirements.
- Specification and installation of accelerometers and associated hardware per engineering requirements.
- Maintain, modify, and upgrade propulsion test systems, electronics, instrumentation, and electrical harnesses including all documentation.
- Support integration of electronic test hardware and software, working closely with Test software engineering, test technicians, and development teams.
- Support pre-hot fire test Rocket Systems Checkouts, Rocket Motor Controller checkouts, Pressurization System Controller Checkouts, etc., to include troubleshooting and problem resolution.
- Maintain and manage the Propulsion Avionics Laboratory, to include keeping an inventory of supplies, tools, consumables, and equipment.
- Support rocket motor Production testing, and automation processes as required.
What You Bring
- Minimum 2 years of college level education and/or combination of work and education is required
- Graduated from a technical college, OR other recognized apprenticeship, AND/OR on the job training, MOS experience is required
Experience:
- 4+ years of relevant aerospace electrical experience is preferred
- Flight Test, Research & Development experience in Aerospace applications, or Aircraft Line Maintenance avionics experience is a Plus
- Flight hardware assembly, vehicle electrical integration & testing experience
- Prior experience controlling high pressure valving, and solenoids, & feedback indications
- Ability to interpret, create, and modify circuits, harness, and instrumentation schematics
- Ability to work in a Hazardous environment with High Energetic Materials
- Familiarity with aerospace electrical standard practices, DMC tooling, soldering, fabrication of simple harnesses and circuits, and D38999 connectors is required
- Fabrication skills with metal and composites is strongly preferred
Preferred Certifications/Licenses:
- Federal Communications Certificate
- Airframe & Powerplant License, FAA Repairman and/or AET certification preferred.
- Electronics certifications Current or past certification for NASA-STD-8739.4, NASA-STD-8739.6, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, IPC-J-STD-001 or MOS equivalent
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to interpret, create, and modify circuits, harness, and instrumentation schematics
- Ability to work in a Hazardous environment with High Energetic Materials
- Familiarity with aerospace electrical standard practices, DMC tooling, soldering, fabrication of simple harnesses and circuits, and D38999 connectors is required
- Fabrication skills with metal and composites is strongly preferred
