About the Job
Talascend is currently seeking an Electrical Weld Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client located in Calvert, AL.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintaining and continuous improvement of the reliability of two automated CO2 Laser strip welders and associated equipment
Troubleshooting and maintenance of complex electromechanical systems including hydraulics, gearboxes, laser optics, PLC, HMI’s, motor drives, and communications
Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFAs) for delays within a team environment and execute Corrective Actions (CAs) to mitigate future occurrences
Initiating &/or implementing continuous improvement of the equipment reliability by developing and reviewing PM’s, improving functional location details and material master data in SAP
Conducting maintenance activities utilizing SAP software (Notifications, Work orders, Purchase Requisitions, Spare Parts, Service Entries, etc.)
Training, coaching, and mentoring maintenance technicians and operations team members
Developing and Auditing Energy Control Procedures (ECPs) to ensure the safety of team members performing work on mill equipment
Travel both local and abroad will be required for training and best practice visits
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with maintenance in an industrial environment, preferably in the steel industry
Understanding of standard electrical engineering principles and practices, drawings, and fine tolerances
Competency or ability to learn PLC programming platforms with use of ladder logic, function block, and statement list logic
Competency or ability to learn power distribution systems, motors drives, sensors, actuator systems, and communication protocols
Competency or ability to learn hydraulic, mechanical drive systems, and alignments
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of industrial C02 laser welding systems and optics is strongly preferred
Knowledge of process automation applications, strongly preferred
Knowledge of hydraulics, power transmission, and complex machine alignments, strongly preferred
Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS systems, preferred
Knowledge of IBA, or similar process trending software is helpful
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex issues, strongly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Practice, strongly preferred
