This position is part of Novanta’s ATI Industrial Automation business unit. ATI is the world’s leading developer of robotic end-of-arm technologies. Summary
As an Electro-Mechanical Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement key electro-mechanical systems and components. You'll provide technical leadership on critical projects. You'll ensure systems meet required specifications, reliability, and industry standards. You'll collaborate with teams to resolve issues, define system needs, and specify product requirements. You'll also evaluate and recommend emerging technologies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and testing electro-mechanical systems in compliance with industry standards. Providing technical leadership on critical projects.
- Synthesizing multiple inputs and leveraging in-depth knowledge and creativity to solve complex organizational and operational problems.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and timely delivery within budget.
- Creating and maintaining necessary documentation and driving best practices.
- Continue to learn new skills and techniques through in-house training, outside training/coursework, and seminars. Teaching less experienced team members design, development, and problem-solving best practices.
General Tasks
- Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality, environmental management and/or occupational health and safety officer.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or related field with 5+ years’ experience designing electro-mechanical components and systems.
- Be able to complete large electro-mechanical design projects with independence and expertise.
- Excellent technical leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with ability to mentor others.
- Demonstrate expertise in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, such as SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
