Description/Job Summary
Provides supervision over lower-level technicians and oversees a variety of engineering and/or technical support functions as directed by higher level engineers and Site Manager. Usually works with minimal supervision or direction by higher level engineers. Work requires candidate to assume a leadership position and an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment. This position will provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.Responsibilities/Duties
This position supports the Air Traffic Control and Landing Systems Branch at Naval Information Warfare Command (NIWC), which is an engineering center with oversight of the installation, implementation, logistics life-cycle sustainment, In-Service Engineering Activity (ISEA) life-cycle engineering change management, remote and on-site fleet technical support, program performance reporting, risk management, installation support, overhaul/restoration, training support, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) flight certification support for the Navy and Marine Corps' shore Air Traffic Control Precision Approach Radar (PAR). The ideal candidate for this position will be expected:
To possess the experience and ability to Supervise an installation team and handle major, minor, and multiple tasks.
To perform a variety of engineering and/or technical support functions as directed by the Site Manager.
To conduct technical assistance in the analysis and resolution of deficiencies of the AN/FPN-68, AN/FPN-63(V) and associated equipment which it may interface with, or impact upon the function and serviceability of the Precision Approach Radars.
Types of Duties include:
Perform any of a variety of Project Management, Engineering and/or technical support functions as directed by the Site Manager. Usually work with minimal supervision or direction by the Site Manager or PM.
On various types of electronic and electromechanical equipment, assist higher level engineers with tasks such as the following: repair, overhaul, installation, research and development engineering, functional and environmental test planning and execution, equipment layout and arrangement designs, routine mathematical analyses, etc.
Compile, compute, compare, or synthesize management/engineering/ technical data for managers and/or project or lead engineers. Assist management and/or engineering or technical personnel with the preparation of reports. Use prescribed mathematical formulae and/or models to calculate measures of performance characteristics for assemblies, equipment's, or systems. Apply good safety work habits at all times.
Required Skills
- Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with in-service engineering activity program/project managers, on-site airfield technicians and operational personnel as well as company engineers, technicians, and program/ project managers.
- Excellent writing skills and the ability to properly convey work accomplished and associated technical data in written reports and in a timely manner with strict deadlines.
- Ability to lead by example and to communicate and demonstrate compliance with Company's policies and procedures applicable in the day to day operations including those required at our customer facilities.
- Relevant years of experience should include repair, overhaul, installation, research and develop ment engineering, test planning support and execution, routine algorithm development, basic mathematical analyses, and technical report support.
- Demonstrated ability to apply basic mathematical models and algorithms to routine engineering assignments.
- Firm grasp of electrical/electronic/computer concepts and application to basic components (e.g., resistors, digital logic circuits, etc.) and systems (e.g., software,firmware, hardware).
- Good working knowledge of general and/or special-purpose test equipment.
Required Experience
- Ten (10) years of experience is required. This position may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.
- Experience with C4ISR Systems, (Command, Control Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance Reconnaissance)
- Must be OJT Level III certified.
- Well versed with specifications and standards governing the conduct of preventative and corrective maintenance of the system to ensure "safety of flight" requirements are met.
