R&D Maintenance Services, Inc. provides operations and maintenance services on U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects throughout the southeast - since 1980. We are the Operations and Maintenance Contractor for the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway/Alabama Rivers Project providing machinery and facility maintenance and repair on several hundred miles of waterway and 10 locks/dams/spillways on the system. The position is based in Columbus, MS. R&D is an EEO Employer.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Electronics Technician Maintenance II applies skilled electrical and advanced technical knowledge to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic control devices and systems including PLCs, machinery control systems, security systems, SCADA systems, CCTV systems, motor and equipment controls, etc., in an industrial environment. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequences, selecting tools, and testing instruments, and understanding schematics and manufacturer technical manuals.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Electronics Technician Maintenance II applies skilled electrical and advanced technical knowledge to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic control devices and systems including PLCs, machinery control systems, security systems, SCADA systems, CCTV systems, motor and equipment controls, etc., in an industrial environment. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequences, selecting tools, and testing instruments, and understanding schematics and manufacturer technical manuals.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:
- Inspects, diagnoses, and performs advanced electric and electronic repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
- Follows up repairs ensuring the performed work effectiveness.
- Assemble, test, and maintain circuitry or electronic components according to technical manuals, using hand and power tools.
- Services and operates a variety of electronic repair tools and testing equipment such as; cable locators, conflict monitor testers, oscilloscopes, volt/ohm meters, logic probes, personal computers, and sophisticated diagnostic programs.
- Troubleshoots all systems to the component level.
- Interprets electrical drawings and schematics.
- Calibrates and performs adjustments in electronic instruments and industrial PLCs.
- Verifies the correct functioning of tools, instruments, parts, and accessories checking they fulfill specifications.
- Participates in preventive maintenance activities.
- Updates information in the maintenance systems and performs maintenance reports.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the electrical & electronics trade.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret national electrical codes.
- Ability to plan and schedule multiple tasks and effectively prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; analyze and solve problems; make decisions; exercise good judgment; perform well under pressure; adapt well to change.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have knowledge of and mathematical ability to perform required calculations.
- Ability to demonstrate overall safe work behavior; including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma and formal training in electrical or electronic work such as technical school, industry certifications, or formal apprenticeship.
- 5 years in the industrial electronics field or 2-3 years of experience in the electrical field plus 2-3 years in the industrial electronics field.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and federal background check
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Frequently lifts/carries up to 20 pounds with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional pulling up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent balancing, kneeling, reaching (full range), bending, handling, feeling, climbing, smelling, and twisting; occasional crawling and reaching; working in cramped and confined spaces.
- Vision, speech, and hearing are sufficient to perform essential tasks.
