R&D Maintenance Services, Inc. provides operations and maintenance services on U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects throughout the southeast - since 1980. We are the Operations and Maintenance Contractor for the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway Project providing machinery and facility maintenance and repair on nearly 200 miles of waterway and 9 locks/dams/spillways on the system. Position is based in Tuscaloosa, AL. R&D is an EEO Employer.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Electronics Technician Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, performs such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes. This person works under close supervision receiving technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS:
- Inspects, diagnoses and performs advanced electric and electronic repairs, replacements and upgrades.
- Follows up repairs ensuring the performed work effectiveness.
- Be able to correctly log characteristics of the failure to help determine the root cause of the failure
- Carries out repairs and improvements on 480V and below panels and protection systems.
- Interprets electrical drawings.
- Calibrates and performs adjustments in electronic instruments and industrial PLCs. Seimens and Allen Bradley.
- Verifies and ensures the availability of spare parts.
- Verifies the correct functioning of tools, instruments, parts and accessories checking they fulfill with specifications.
- Participates in preventive maintenance activities.
- Interacts with other areas.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to work with outside resources.
- Carries out forklift or radio control overhead crane operation when applicable.
- Updates information in the maintenance systems and performs maintenance reports.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques used in the electrical trade.
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret national electrical codes.
- Ability to plan and schedule multiple tasks and effectively prioritize and plan work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; analyze and solve problems; make decisions; exercise good judgment; perform well under pressure; adapt well to change.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have knowledge of and mathematical ability to perform required calculations.
- Ability to demonstrate overall safe work behavior; including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or formal training in electrical or electronic work.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Frequently lifts/carries up to 20 pounds with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional pulling up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent balancing, kneeling, reaching (full range), bending, handling, feeling, climbing, smelling and twisting; occasional crawling and reaching; working in cramped and confined spaces.
- Vision, speech and hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks.
