About the Job
Under the direct supervision of and reports directly to the Elementary Principal.
Teacher Assistant Qualifications:
Must be a Christian, walking in fellowship with Christ, Godly, above reproach in all areas of life, active in a local church, and apt to teach, I Tim. 3:2.
- Must be physically and emotionally able to do the work required.
- Must be dependable, able to talk with parents reasonably, and deal with children in a fair and just way.
- Computer skills must be equal to the requirements of the job.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, as well as, meet deadlines.
- Must relate well with children.
- Must have good Biblical discipline and control.
- Ideally has 1-2 years of college.
- Must not gossip or share information about the administration, fellow staff members, students, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Creates a warm and friendly environment in which the children and families feel comfortable and secure.
- Cleans and sanitizes the tables, chairs, equipment per the lead teacher's instructions.
- Can substitute last minute and short-term.
- Greets the children and their parents or guardians with a warm, friendly attitude each day.
- Helps the lead teacher with grading, recording, and cleaning per the lead teacher's instructions.
- Inspects the classroom and playground equipment for any potential safety hazards.
- Follows the policies established by Administration.
- NEVER leaves the class/students unsupervised. Gives full attention to the class and is responsible for the safety and physical welfare of the children. Children are not allowed to come in and out of the building unsupervised, for bathroom use or any other reason. Continually keeps a count of children under his/her supervision
- Helps supervise children during assemblies, drills, playground.
- Check your Belleview email several times a day.
- Do not use school computers, printers, and copiers for personal use.
- Do not access personal email, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.
- Does not use a cell phone in the classroom. No personal calls should be made or received any time you are supervising children. (This includes texting.)
- Does not share school or personal problems or complaints with students, families, or other on-campus friends/colleagues. They cannot be the solution to help solve your problems.
- Do not discuss salary or benefits with other staff, students, families, or on-campus entities as this is unethical.
- Continually strives for a deeper walk with the Lord, including personal quiet times and church attendance.
- Follows a daily schedule subject to changes and revisions as deemed necessary by the administration and may be adjusted throughout the school year.
