BASIC FUNCTION:
In collaboration with the school Principal and Curriculum Specialist, review and analyze current curriculum, education processes and data to provide recommendations for improved student writing assessment strategies and instructional best practices.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- In collaboration with the Principal and Curriculum Specialist, may assist teachers in planning lessons that demonstrate engagement and the use of successful student writing programs.
- Assist Principal, Curriculum Specialist and teachers with the interpretation of assessment data.
- In collaboration with the Principal and Curriculum Specialist, may plan, prepare, and present Professional Development Workshops to teachers.
- In collaboration with the Principal and Curriculum Specialist, may assist teachers in the process of differentiating writing instruction in the classrooms for all students.
- In collaboration with the Principal and Curriculum Specialist, may provide direct support to classroom teachers in instructional “best practice” strategies in student writing.
- In collaboration with the Principal and Curriculum Specialist, may meet on a regular basis with Central Office Staff for collaborative purposes and disseminate relative information to Principals and faculty.
- Assist the building Principal and Curriculum Specialist with initiating and implementing educational programs derived from the individual needs of students or teachers including recommendations to the writing program.
- In collaboration with the Principal and Curriculum Specialist, may facilitate the process of reviewing teacher lesson plans and analyzing student work to revise and improve writing instruction as needed.
- Demonstrate the proficient use of technology (Infinite Campus, etc.) if or when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Principal.
ABILITY TO:
- Interpret, analyze and disseminate student writing assessment data and work collaboratively to make suggestions for improvement.
- Demonstrate proficient use of Infinite Campus.
- Collaborate with District Administration and employees that would include data review, program reviews, observations, in some cases, and recommendation of best practices associated with improving student writing instruction.
- Collaborate with Principal and Curriculum Specialist to provide and tailor training activities to meet the needs of the school and/or District and to develop announcements and descriptions of training activities, if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in field of assignment.
- Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for Elementary Education.
- Prefer experience with students in area of job need.
Reports to Principal and Curriculum Specialist.

As a condition of initial employment, all employees shall pass a medical examination. The medical examination shall be reported on the form required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation available at the Board of Education office. The examination shall be provided by a licensed physician, physician assistant (PA), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Each medical examination shall include a risk assessment for tuberculosis as required by Kentucky Administrative Regulation. Individuals identified by that assessment as being at high risk for TB shall be required to undergo a tuberculin skin test.702 KAR 001:160
All applicants being considered for employment shall be required to submit to a urinalysis test for the detection of illegal use of drugs and alcohol. An applicant refusing to complete any part of the drug testing procedure will not be considered a valid candidate for employment with the District, and such will be considered as a withdrawal of the individual’s application for employment. If substance screening shows a confirmed positive result for which there is no current physician’s prescription, a second confirming test may be requested by the HRC. If the first or any requested second confirming test is positive, any current job offer will be revoked. The applicant will not be permitted to reapply for employment with the District for at least twelve (12) months and not until the applicant shows proof of successful completion of a drug rehabilitation program or proof that the applicant is no longer engaging in illegal drug use.DSISD School Policy 03.23251
