About the Job
The Elizabeth Lee Black School - Instructional Coachposition focuses on training teaching staff using school-based teaching methods and behavior management techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain specific training curriculum for mentoring and coaching.
- Conduct on-going research regarding best practices for students with multiple disabilities/developmental disabilities/low incidence etc.
- Train and support ELBS staff in acquiring the critical programmatic skills necessary to deliver high quality services to students with developmental disabilities.
- Attend pre-IEP and classroom meetings and review findings with APS Educational Coordinator.
- Accurately maintain the Critical Skills Competency Record for each teacher.
- Schedule training sessions for new teachers and existing teaching staff during the instructional day and after the instructional day.
- Recommend training sessions, and present training sessions during ELBS in-services.
- Conduct weekly new teacher meetings.
- Consult with APS Education Coordinator on teacher probationary and annual reviews.
- Substitute as Special Education teacher of record in classrooms via program needs.
- Assist as back-up ELBS representative at IEP meetings and for PASA.
- Assist with training and completion of School Function Assessment.
- Coordinate with new teachers on Lesson plans, IEP development, PA alterative standards, MAGs & STOs.
- Train new teachers on ELBS curriculum & assessments.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education. A minimum of five years’ teaching experience working in the field of Special Education; Coaching is preferred. Master’s level education and supervisory experience is preferred. Instructional experience in educational leadership, low incidence population and curriculum development are preferred.
- Must have knowledge of learning methods, excellent interpersonal skills and possess a strong presentation style. Mentor teachers/coaches must provide feedback but also encourage, recognize and praise professional growth.
- Must be willing to travel off-site.
- Valid driver’s license
- Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance
- PA Dept. of Education FBI clearance required
