This a hybrid position that consists of Embedded Hardware design and Product/Production design. The selected candidate will have a solid understanding of Embedded System design and how to take that product through the manufacturing processes.
The Embedded Hardware and Production Engineer is responsible for the design and development of electronic hardware and related firmware applications in residential, commercial refrigeration products and LED from inception, through testing, agency approval. Implement production of new products, develop and maintain production processes, and provide support to the production team. This position coordinates with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and other departments to drive projects and achieve goals. Develops, tests, and evaluates systems for production processes, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis and production coordination.
Responsibilities:Embedded Hardware Design responsibilities:
- Determine hardware, and system requirements for embedded systems applied to refrigeration products, controls, and LED lighting products.
- Responsible for all aspects of PCB design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and assembly.
- Develop, maintain, and improve algorithms and firmware for embedded systems.
- Documents product designs by preparing flow charts, bills of materials, cost analysis, drawings, and schematics.
- Works with PCB contract manufacturers, consultants and suppliers to ensure manufacturability of new products and identify components and tools
- Lead prototype and performance testing.
- Solid working knowledge of C/C++ preferred.
- Experience in programming real-time systems with or without RTOS.
- Firmware development (8-, 16-, 32-bit, ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers) and debugging.
Production Design responsibilities.
- Create process documentation and develop production procedures.
- Conduct investigations and develop controls for improving product quality.
- Assist with engineering handover to production with a hands-on approach.
- Document issues with production processes and implement corrective action plans.
- Contribute to installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of process equipment.
- Participate in engineering design reviews to ensure products are designed for manufacturability.
- Recommend and implement methods for improving utilization and efficiency.
- Conduct time studies to enable effective resource planning and improvement activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science engineering, engineering management or similar field required.
- Three or more years of related experience (embedded hardware experience) required.
- Solid working knowledge of C/C++ preferred.
- Experience in programming real-time systems with or without RTOS.
