About the Job
- Embedded Software Engineer will design and develop software modules within the embedded software stack, focusing on drivers, Linux kernel, and applications
- Enhance the Plume Middleware (OpenSync) stack and integrate new components based on client requirements
- Collaborate with OEMs to enhance target layer APIs within the OpenWRT operating system for client-specific functionalities
- Analyze and improve security features in routers, focusing on data protection, data integrity, and vulnerability assessment
- Manage router bootup sequence, firmware upgrades, image flashing, and image signing processes
- As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will contribute to enhancing the Plume and Cujo AI stack to increase router robustness and reliability
- Triage reported issues, perform root cause and impact analysis, and develop potential solutions
- Conduct daily sync-ups with onsite and client teams, providing technical support and guidance to junior engineers
Requirements:
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for user and kernel space
- Experience with source control management and continuous integration/deployment environments
- Practical experience in OpenWRT, PRPL, and RTOS development
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience in wireless networking (AP, Hotspot, Single SSID, Band/Channel)
- Strong knowledge in networking protocols, including Multicast, DHCP, MAP-T, IPv4, and IPv6
- Skilled in debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Experience with creating packages (Opkg or RPM preferred)
- Strong scripting skills, including Python, Groovy, and BusyBox (ash and associated tools)
- Familiarity with Linux kernel development
- Experience with cross-compilers and setting up build environments for bootstrapping development
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
