About the Job
An embroidery operator is responsible for operating and maintaining embroidery machines to create embroidered designs on a variety of products, such as clothing, hats, bags, and other textiles. The job duties of an embroidery operator include:
- Setting up and preparing embroidery machines for use, including selecting the appropriate threads, bobbins, and needles.
- Reading and interpreting design specifications, including color and size requirements, to ensure accurate and high-quality embroidery work.
- Operating embroidery machines to create embroidered designs, adjusting the settings as needed to achieve the desired results.
- Inspecting finished products for quality and making any necessary adjustments to the embroidery machines or processes.
- Maintaining the embroidery machines, including cleaning and oiling the machines and replacing parts as needed.
- Keeping track of inventory levels of embroidery supplies, such as threads and needles, and placing orders as needed.
- Collaborating with other team members, such as designers and production managers, to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Successful embroidery operators are detail-oriented, have excellent hand-eye coordination, and are able to work independently or as part of a team. They should also have a basic understanding of computer software and machine operations. Some embroidery operators may work in a production or manufacturing environment, while others may work in retail or custom embroidery shops.
