Job Responsibilities
- Triage incoming patients based on the severity of their condition.
- Perform initial patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Assist with life-saving procedures, including CPR and advanced cardiac life support.
- Coordinate with doctors to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Operate medical equipment such as EKGs, defibrillators, and patient monitors.
- Document all patient care in electronic health records accurately and comprehensively.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing emotional support and education on treatment plans and home care requirements.
- Collaborate with the emergency department team to ensure high-quality patient care and safety.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control policies.
- Participate in continuous education to stay updated on emergency nursing practices and standards.
- Manage the inventory of supplies and equipment in the emergency department.
- Respond to emergency situations with speed and efficiency.
- Follow all legal and hospital policies regarding patient confidentiality and ethics.
Job Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care setting, preferably in an emergency department
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification, within 30 days of hire
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification within 30 days of hire
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) Certification within 30 days of hire
- Exceptional triage skills to assess and prioritize patient care
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Physical endurance and stamina to perform tasks for extended periods
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of emergency room procedures and protocols
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional development
- Capacity to handle multiple emergencies and tasks simultaneously
