Emergency Med Serv Dispatcher - MyMichigan Health

Summary:This position answers emergency telephones, dispatches ambulances, and takes control of an emergency scene until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel arrive. Completes billing forms, maintains computer logs, arranges air flights, and coordinates fire and police assistance and advanced life support intercepts.Responsibilities:

(40%)* Receives incoming emergency ambulance requests. Dispatches ambulances to emergency and non-emergency situations.

 

(30%)* Determines the need for police and/or fire-rescue assistance and contacts the appropriate law enforcement agency.

 

(30%)* Maintains daily computer logs for both Gladwin and Midland EMS. Maintains daily computer statistics for Gladwin and Midland.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Completes all billing forms using proper codes and obtaining any additional information needed.

 

Receives and schedules non-emergency transfers.

 

Maintains adequate coverage for both Midland and Gladwin departments by shifting vehicles. Determines and coordinates Advanced Life Support (LS) and helicopter intercepts.

 

Takes control of scene via telephone giving pre-arrival emergency medical directions to family, patient, or bystanders.

Required Education:High School Diploma or GEDOther Information:
