POSITION: Emergency Medical Services Director
DUTIES:
Assists with planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluating the
delivery of emergency medical services to the Town of Limon and surrounding
areas as needed.
Director will make sure that ALS protocols are followed by Paramedics and
BLS protocols will be followed by EMT's.
Working with our current Physician Advisor, to ensure all protocols are
being followed. Reporting to him on violations of protocol and other issues
that he needs to address.
Making sure all waivered medications and procedures have quarterly reports
filed with CDPHE.
Ensures that Town coverage is available 24/7/365.
Coordinates with all EMS field personnel, to ensure appropriate delivery
of EMS services and response time requirements.
Acquires and maintains working knowledge of Town, County, State, and
Federal laws, regulations and medical protocols dealing with the delivery of
pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical services.
Attains and maintains any required licenses/certifications and ensures
all employees attain and maintain required licenses/certifications.
Ensures compliance with all Colorado Department Public Health and
Environment rules and regulations related to EMS care and Ambulance Service
operations in Colorado. Ensures that all medical personnel also are compliant
with UC Health Protocols.
Assists with the preparation and administration of the annual EMS
department budget.
Successfully writes and administers grants for Limon Ambulance Service.
Represents the Limon Ambulance Service in all grant hearings, including
required presentations (out of town travel may be required). Many meetings
are available on Zoom.
Manages EMS medical supply ordering and inventory.
Supervises the effective operation, utilization, and maintenance of
the Ambulance Service fleet and of medical equipment.
Ensures all patient care reports and supporting documentation are complete
and delivered in a timely manner.
Ensures that the billing company has all necessary information and
documentation needed for efficient and timely billing.
Ensures run reports are complete 48 hours after an incident. Making sure
that subsequent billing matters are filed/addressed within one week of EMS
response or request.
Ensures payroll is submitted, reviewed, approved; and then submitted
to the Town Clerk by the Monday morning following payroll weekend.
Has the leadership and authority to delegate, to responsible
personnel, any of the above duties as deemed necessary for efficient
operations of Ambulance Service, ensuring management and oversight of said
responsibilities.
Performs and functions as an on-shift field Paramedic filling regular and
required shifts. Serves as a Field Training Officer during all scheduled
shifts.
Act as a liaison and maintain a strong, positive relationship between
the town and other area EMS Agencies. Maintain a good relationship with Fire
Department providers and area medical facilities. Must establish a good
relationship with The Plains to Peaks RETAC Coordinator. Must strive to have
good relationships with state leaders at CDPHE.
Conducts performance improvement and quality review by working with the
Physician Advisor and The Plains to Peaks RETAC Coordinator for Limon
Ambulance Service.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 5 years of paramedic emergency response experience is required
with responsibility in the area of personnel and program management.
Must have experience in dealing with Ambulance Service fleet maintenance.
Must possess a minimum valid class C Colorado driver's license and
be insurable with the Town s insurance carrier.
Current Colorado Driver s License with a good driving record
Must possess a CPR and First Aid Certification.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Current Colorado Licensed or Certified Paramedic Required.
Current National Registry Paramedic Preferred
Current AHA BLS Provider Required.
urrent AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Required.
Current PALS Provider
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
ICS 700, 100, 300 and 400
International Trauma Life Support or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
Provider or equivalent
WAGE: $65,000-$75,000 a year
