EMT Opportunity! Part-Time 16 hours a week - Day Shift
Maintains less than 2 minute activation time when ambulance is available. Evaluates scene safety, proceeds appropriately. Always follows universal precautions.
Brings to patient side all equipment required, per policy.
As appropriate for patient condition/complaint, performs a thorough and timely history and physical exam. Develops an accurate working diagnosis. Develops a treatment plan per service guidelines and/or medical direction, implements care plan, explains same to patient/family, monitors and documents results. Provides patient care in the Department under the direction of the EMS Supervisor, in consultation with the Emergency Physician and Charge Nurse.
Attends required CME/PCE and is current with CME hours, per policy. Maintains EMT certification at all times. Maintains CPR certification at all times. Demonstrates a desire to increase knowledge while in the Department by following patient's progress with physicians.
Had no motor vehicle accidents at which the employee was at fault. Demonstrates knowledge of major roadways in Norwalk vehicle operation. Meets driving program standards per P&P. Operates vehicles in a safe and courteous manner per P&P. Provides patients and staff with comfortable ride. Parks safely.
Immediately upon coming on duty, checks vehicles, equipment and supplies. Completes required documentation. Corrects any deficiencies identified above by restocking, cleaning, repairing, or by following prescribed notification procedures. Reports all problems and deficiencies to EMS management immediately. Maintains vehicle and equipment in a clean and ready state Stows equipment per policy.
Thoroughly and accurately completes all patient care records, per P&P. documentation, paperwork. Completes all other forms per P&P. documentation, paperwork medical documentation requirements for charting per P&P. documentation, paperwork. Completes all Patient Care Documentation is a timely fashion.
Promotes positive image of Norwalk Hospital EMS in the community. Professionalism. Provides educational assistance to other health care providers. Performs public education and information. Works to resolve conflicts; demonstrates teamwork. Professionalism. Serves as a preceptor for EMT students.

Required:
High School graduate. Connecticut EMS certification or licensure equal or greater than Emergency Medical Technician required. 2 years recent equivalent field experience working with Paramedics in an urban, 911 high volume system.
CT Driver’s License, CT EMT, AHA, and BLS Provider
Desired: Must have exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and take control of chaotic situations while establishing treatment and situational priorities. Must maintain at all times: Connecticut EMS certification or Licensure equal or greater than Emergency Medical Technician, and BLS/CPR 'certification. Preferred certifications included; PHTLS, PEPP, GEMS and CEVO Must maintain a valid driver's license.
