Overnight Shift available ($2.00 shift differential)
Responsibilities:
- Assist the veterinary team in providing compassionate and efficient care to emergency patients. This includes assisting with patient restraint, obtaining vital signs, and providing comfort measures.
- Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and medications required for emergency procedures and treatments.
- Maintain a clean and organized emergency treatment area, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, changing bedding, and restocking supplies.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures, such as radiography, laboratory tests, and sample collection, under the guidance of the veterinary team.
- Aid the veterinary team in administering treatments, medications, and intravenous fluids as directed.
- Accurately and promptly document patient information, treatments, and observations in medical records.
- Provide courteous and empathetic communication to pet owners, answering general inquiries, relaying messages, and providing updates on patient care as directed by the veterinary team.
- Support other departments or areas of the hospital as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the veterinary facility.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a veterinary emergency or critical care setting.
- Strong understanding of veterinary emergency procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with the veterinary team and pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance to patients in distress.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail to accurately report patient behavior and condition to the veterinary team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the workday
- The ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without accommodation
