Safety Rotational Program, Emerging Talent

Primary Purpose:

The Emerging Talent Programs at Heritage Environmental Services are designed to train and develop high potential candidates and provide opportunities to accelerate your career growth and gain direct, hands-on experience. Working alongside managers and leaders, exposure to high level projects, and individualized mentorship provides a unique experience for all participates.

The Safety Rotational Program is a 2-year program that explores 2 different environmental service locations. Each rotation will be approximately 12 months in length providing development opportunities and in-depth experience of our safety culture.

Essential Functions & Requirements:

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
• Develop an understanding of how the company works and build relationships with Emerging Talent Program Representatives through regularly scheduled meetings, annual training workshops, and mentor programs.
• Network with professionals from various disciplines across the organization to enhance teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Maintain awareness of all Company policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Assist multiple facilities on the development and sustainment of our safety culture.
• Assist Company locations on the management of health, and safety compliance; Assist Company locations with conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation.
• Drive continuous improvement of safe behaviors and outcomes by delivering methodologies and tools to effectively mitigate identified risks.
• Help identify corrective and preventative action needs through audits, incident investigations, and observation/data trending.
• Develop, implement, and refine communication and training to educate leadership and employees on the importance of safe work practices.
• Guide and support medical surveillance activities, annual physical programs, and industrial hygiene monitoring surveys.
• Perform and/or coordinate the Health and Safety training of all business unit personnel appropriate to their job duties. Maintain documentation of training in a format and location suitable for external review. Develop continuing Health and Safety training to keep safety in focus.
• Assist in effective responses to emergency situations, including timely notification of reportable incidents, response actions, and documentation efforts.
• Maintain confidential records.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Sciences, or related field (required)
• Anticipated graduation with qualifying educational degree prior to program start date (required) -OR-
• Qualifying educational degree that has been obtained within 2 years prior to the program start date (required)
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (required)

Experience:

• Prior relevant internship, co-op, or practical experience (required)
• Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative such as a school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc or exceptional leadership on work projects (required)

• Strong teamwork, networking, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Organizational and time management skills.
