BWXT is currently seeking an EMO Process Improvement Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!
The EMO Process Improvement Engineer is a part of the Advanced Heat Treatment/Process Monitoring unit but supports all of EMO.
Job Description/Duties:
- Performs as the Section Lead for process monitoring within Operations.
- Participates in monthly and quarterly meetings with higher level site management and customer representatives.
- Works with technical personnel in process monitoring group and throughout facility to develop and implement process monitoring trending and data analysis into existing workflow.
- Provides vision and direction to the Section's process monitoring effort based on input from Unit and Section managers.
- Performs independently to implement high-level plans given by area management.
- Coordinates work with other groups in facility, and within section, to expand and grow the data trending and analysis throughout facility.
- Manages new process monitoring projects.
- Supports operations through statistical analysis, data management, defect and error reduction to support emerging problems within Section.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university plus seven (7) years of relevant experience is required. Internal candidates with a Physics Degree who are already on the Engineering Ladder are also eligible.
- Must possess demonstrable skills in the management of cross-functional projects.
- Must possess proven technical/critical thinking skills.
- Must be capable of working independently to implement and follow a plan from a high-level goal.
- Must possess ability to make quality decisions.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Previous management experience (group lead, unit manager, external management, etc.) is desired.
- A rigorous background in statistics is desired.
- Prior lean six-sigma/operational excellence training is preferred.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a rapidly changing environment is required.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
