Job Description:
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for managing and resolving employee complaints, conducting investigations, analyzing turnover and engagement survey data, and partnering with operations supervisors and Human Resources business partners. This role also involves assisting with benefits, leave of absences, and accommodations, coaching employees through conflict resolution, and making decisions based on compliance with laws and company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and resolve employee complaints and concerns in a fair and impartial manner
- Conduct thorough and objective investigations into employee complaints and allegations
- Determine “root cause” analysis to recommend necessary training and or coaching opportunities that may exist.
- Analyze turnover data, engagement survey results, and exit survey data to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement
- Partner with Operations Supervisors and Human Resources Business Partners to address employee relations issues and develop proactive solutions
- Assist employees with benefits, leave of absences, and accommodations requests, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and company policies
- Coach employees and managers through conflict resolution processes, providing guidance and support to improve communication and relationships in the workplace
- Make informed decisions based on a thorough understanding of employment laws, regulations, and company policies
- Conduct training sessions on employee relations topics, such as conflict resolution, communication, and compliance
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee relations issues and investigations
- Stay up to date with changes in employment laws and best practices in employee relations
- Review termination submissions for approval
- Represent/support Company at Legal meetings, Mediations where appropriate/needed
- Provide local reporting on status of new, in progress or closed cases to Regional Director, Field HR
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in employee relations, human resources, or a related field
- Professional certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees, management, and HR partners
- Conflict Resolution Skills: Strong ability to mediate and resolve conflicts in a fair and impartial manner
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data related to employee relations issues and identify trends and patterns
- Knowledge of Employment Laws: Basic understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Coaching and Mentoring Skills: Ability to coach and mentor employees through conflict resolution processes
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with other HR professionals, supervisors, and employees
- Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: Ability to empathize with employees and demonstrate emotional intelligence in interactions
