Job Objective: The Employee Relations Specialist provides support for all employee relations-related activities. The person in this role will work closely with the Human Resources Manager to provide guidance for all employee relations services, policies and programs.
Summary: Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, the Employee Relations Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for the documentation and delivery of employee relations governance and consulting services to designated internal clients on ER matters You will use employee relations knowledge to coordinate complex processes and deliver human resource services, which include conducting investigations, corrective actions, conflict resolution, leave management, industrial/labor relations, and monitoring compliance programs.
The information below represents the essential duties of this position:
Employee Relations:
- Assist the Human Resources Manager with entry to associate-level employee relations matters.
- Escalate all senior-level employee relations matters to the proper individuals.
- Work closely with the Human Resources Manager on all employee relations matters.
- Fostering an effective, inclusive work environment/culture and relationships, balancing employee advocacy with stewardship of company goals and values.
- Building strong relationships with operations partners, HR colleagues and experts, and other business partners to jointly deliver business objectives and resolve issues.
- Recommend and develop employee relations practices to foster positive employer-employee relations.
- Consult and coach managers on performance management best practices, including progressive performance management, performance improvement plans, exit strategies, and involuntary separations.
- Investigate, review, consult, and provide recommendations to managers on employee misconduct issues. Make recommendations regarding the appropriate level of corrective action or termination to HR Leadership and the People Leader based on company policies and laws.
- Investigate standard internal employee complaints of unfair treatment, harassment, discrimination, workplace violence or hostile work environment. Recommend solutions to people leaders and HR Leadership, including consistent corrective action or termination, based on company policies, and weighing legal risk factors to the organization. Document investigation, recommendations, and resolution for the complaint.
- Manage the documentation of employee relations matters and ensure compliance with legal and organizational policies and procedures.
- Work with employees and their managers to understand perspectives and to guide them toward resolution of conflict or issues.
- Conduct and analyze exit interviews to make actionable recommendations based on data.
- Work with the 3rd Party Leave Administrator to assist with determining eligibility and availability of leave time for team members requesting leave and generate appropriate communications to comply with Leave Policies and ADA regulations.
- Recognize patterns and anticipate employee-related issues; Develops, recommends, and initiates appropriate steps for resolution in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Provides support for projects and programs that contribute to the employee relations strategy and company culture.
- Develop policies, and procedures based on specific needs or changing employment laws.
- Prepare documentation for all unemployment claims.
- Present HR policies and procedures in new hire training classes.
- Administer employee exit emails/communication summarizing final paycheck info, point of contact, reminder of NDA, etc.
- Attend New Hire Training feedback sessions as representation for HR with the training team.
General Responsibilities:
- Strategically collaborates with HR team in developing new HR initiatives and takes a lead role launching those initiatives.
- Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions according to HR objectives.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law and compiles date for Human Resources Manager and Executives.
- Monitors changes in HR laws and regulations and develops and amends company policies, accordingly, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits administration, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Assist in the organization of hard and electronic copies of employee records.
- Audits human resources records, including employee files, ensuring accuracy, legal compliance, and confidentiality of information.
Leadership:
- Responsible for providing leadership, mentorship, direction, feedback, and support to internal business customers (people leaders, individual contributors, etc.) as it pertains to all HR-related matters.
- Responsible in assisting with the onboarding, education, and development of new EASE team members as it pertains to all HR-related matters.
- 3-4 years of experience with a 4-year degree in a related fieldĀ
