Are you passionate about navigating the intricate world of employment laws and regulations? Do you have a keen eye for detail and a strong ability to provide strategic employment counseling? Join our team as an Employment Law Associate and play a pivotal role in guiding our clients through complex employment matters while ensuring legal compliance and fostering positive workplace relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and counseling to clients on various employment matters, including HR compliance, wage and hour disputes, termination guidance, executive employment agreements, severance agreements, and policy reviews.
- Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to offer accurate and relevant guidance.
- Collaborate with clients to draft and review employment agreements, ensuring they are legally sound and aligned with business objectives.
- Assist clients in resolving Department of Labor (DOL) wage and hour disputes through negotiation and strategic guidance.
- Develop, review, and update HR policies, handbooks, and training materials to ensure compliance with current laws and industry best practices.
- Conduct training sessions for clients' HR teams and management to enhance understanding of employment laws and foster a compliant workplace culture.
- Advise clients on proper employee termination procedures to mitigate potential legal risks and ensure ethical practices.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and industry events to stay informed about the latest developments in employment law and share insights with the team and clients.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in Missouri AND Kansas.
- 2+ years of experience practicing employment law, preferably in a counseling or advisory role.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Experience in negotiating settlements and resolving employment-related disputes.
- Proficiency in drafting legal documents, including employment agreements, policies, and handbooks.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
