This employment opportunity is for an Employment Law Attorney based in Kansas City, MO. We are in search of an attorney who is passionate about employment laws and regulations, possesses a keen eye for detail, and has the ability to provide strategic employment counseling. The role entails guiding clients through complex employment matters, ensuring legal compliance, and fostering positive workplace relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and counseling to clients on various employment matters, including HR compliance, wage and hour disputes, termination guidance, executive employment agreements, severance agreements, and policy reviews.
- Stay updated with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to offer accurate and relevant guidance.
- Collaborate with clients to draft and review employment agreements, ensuring they are legally sound and aligned with business objectives.
- Assist clients in resolving Department of Labor (DOL) wage and hour disputes through negotiation and strategic guidance.
- Develop, review, and update HR policies, handbooks, and training materials to ensure compliance with current laws and industry best practices.
- Conduct training sessions for clients' HR teams and management to enhance understanding of employment laws and foster a compliant workplace culture.
- Advise clients on proper employee termination procedures to mitigate potential legal risks and ensure ethical practices.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and industry events to stay informed about the latest developments in employment law and share insights with the team and clients.
Qualifications:
- Admission to the bar in Missouri; Kansas admission is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience practicing employment law, preferably in a counseling or advisory role.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Experience in negotiating settlements and resolving employment-related disputes.
- Proficiency in drafting legal documents, including employment agreements, policies, and handbooks.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
