This is a full-time position with Los Angeles Unified School District. The ideal candidate will assist in HVAC controls design and submittal reviews, analyze utility and energy data for conservation measures, and review EMS data to identify maintenance needs. They will perform site visits, implement cost-effective solutions, troubleshoot HVAC issues, and respond to warranty calls. With a minimum of three years of professional experience in building controls and an understanding of computer networking principles, the candidate must hold a degree in engineering or a related technical field. They will also manage in-house commissioning projects and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance measures. Proficiency in calibrating systems and electrical troubleshooting is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with HVAC Controls Design and Submittal reviews
- Assist in reviewing utility data and energy usage to identify schools for recommissioning and retro commissioning
- Assist in reviewing EMS and energy data, and alarms to identify no cost/low-cost energy conservation measures
- Assist in the review of EMS, energy data, and alarms to identify preventive maintenance measures
- Perform site visits to investigate as built conditions on identified projects
- Implement low-cost to no-cost solutions or alternatives to projects/repairs of EMS systems at existing school sites
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems
- Respond to basic warranty calls
- Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
- Assist in managing In-House Commissioning Projects
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years professional experience in building controls or a related field
- Understanding of computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC maintenance issues
- Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.
Required Education:
- Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelors or associate degree in engineering (mechanical, computer science, electrical, information technology)
OR - Two-year technical degree in HVAC, Electronics-related studies with an additional 2 years of experience to compensate for education on a year-for-year basis
