Job DescriptionThis is an on-call position. The EMT will be required to respond to Disasters in support of State and Federal governments responses. This position may require deployments of 14 days to 120 days in length to areas effected by large disasters. Locations are anywhere in the United States and its territories. The EMT will assist nurses and paramedics with assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct and indirect clinical care to patients. She/ he will competently function as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient and community centered care. She/he serves as an advocate for the patient and their family and intercedes on their behalf by acting as a liaison for patients and their families with respect to their rights and beliefs. The EMT will utilize their expertise of evidenced based medical practice to manage unexpected and emergent situations, to mitigate and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner.
Qualifications- Current and unrestricted EMT license from state of residence and National Registry EMT to provide healthcare within scope of practice.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- US Citizen
- Current State License; National Registry Emergency Technician certification.
- Live near a major airport
- Be able to respond to site with in 72 hours
- Clear a Child Neglect and Abuse Check and other background requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
- Assessment and documentation of the patient’s vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications.
- Establish observable and documentable patient goals using care plans within protocols.
- Report all changes in patient’s conditions to the medical provider.
- Proactively and independently administer basic care, , visual acuity, basic wound care, changing bandages or administering intravenous medications.
- Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living, as needed.
- Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
- Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
- Restocking clinical and provider areas once supplies are received.
- Cross-train to work within in the clinics, emergency room, and inpatient units.
- On-call rotation schedule participation as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Minimum of two (2) years of EMT experience
- Work is normally performed in Austere conditions
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
