**Summary:** The Turnover Tech, under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, assists with routine specimen collections, routine tests, patient care functions and technical procedures for which appropriate training and competency is maintained.
* Performs daily cleaning (includes special cleaning) of assigned areas according to the standard operating procedures of the department.
* Facilitates triage, treatment and provides safe appropriate transport of patients (may transport patients with IV fluids).
* Takes vital signs of patients on admission and as directed by RN.
* Assists with turning, lifting, and positioning patients to prepare for exams or procedures.
* Assists with procedures, exams and treatments.
* Sets up trays for practitioner using sterile technique.
* Obtains equipment or supplies as necessary for patient care.
* Assists with preparing rooms between patients, restocking and setting up area.
* Prepares adults or pediatric patients for testing.
* Assists patient to restroom/bedside commode/bedpan/urinal as needed.
* Assists with patient care such as bathing, incontinent care, changing clothes.
* Attends, demonstrates, and participates in required in-services, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL), and other educational programs.
* Adheres to general safety and infection control standards.
**Self**-**Development:** Maintains competency by staying informed of changing trends in Emergency Department services. Provides for professional effectiveness by maintaining personal wellness and balance in life. Supports team performance by maintaining good attendance.
**Customer** **Relations:** Projects caring, friendly and helpful image to patients and other customers.
Promptly responds to customer requests and meets customer needs. Consistently provides information and assistance to visitors. Seeks to understand and exceed the expectations of every customer, internal and external.
**Secretarial/Clerical/Administrative:** Prepares, compiles and maintains unit records and reports to facilitate quality performance of functions.
**Transcribes Orders:** Enters medical and therapeutic treatment orders via computer to facilitate implementation of patient care activities.
**Inventory Control:** Maintains and monitors unit supplies and equipment to assure adequate availability of budgeted resources.
**Job Knowledge:**
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Must complete in-house computer training, and demonstrate basic computer skills
* Must complete hospital and ED basic orientation, and complete basic orientation competence checklist
* Prior experience or training in customer service preferred
* Must maintain CPR certification and annual review requirements
* Must maintain unit specific annual educational requirements
* Must have effective, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Must demonstrate knowledge and resources necessary to provide age-appropriate care
* Must possess general knowledge of and comply with various regulatory and accrediting standards as they pertain to job functions
* Must be able to assimilate data and information and report to appropriate person
