POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant (MA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic is responsible for providing basic clinical care commensurate with his or her medical education to patients. Duties include performing initial clinical evaluations, vital signs, assisting with procedures for emergency care as directed by the registered nurse (RN). Provide excellent customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- BLS and ACLS Certification
- Minimum of 1-year experience in either an urgent care of emergency department. EMT's and Paramedics must have a minimum of 2 years ambulance experience or 1-year emergency department experience
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant preferred
- Current state licensure for EMT or Paramedic license
- Able to work in a fast pace emergency department
Job Responsibilities/Duties
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Courtesy and Respect for every staff member
- Perform Laboratory point of care testing and all CUA waved testing as well as perform lab controls as needed.
- Comply with organization policies and procedures
- Work closely with the medical, nursing, and radiology staff. Participates in staff meetings
- Follow daily lab and equipment checks for Quality Assurance
- Ensures follow up phone calls as assigned by the RN
- Assist in maintaining the facility in clean safe working order in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Do daily equipment inspections to ensure equipment is clean and in working order
- Assist with patient check in as needed
- Ensures patient confidentiality and care is documented accurately in the patient chart
- Assist with supply costs and ordering as assigned by the facility manager
- Perform clinical duties as assigned by the RN if train in that duty
- Utilizes company email as primary means of communication
- Maintains examination rooms and ensures that the room are stocked properly
- Be proficient with practice management and electronic medical record documentation
- Comply with federal regulation including but not limited to HIPPA, CMS and CUA
- Ensures safe clean work environment
- Work efficiently in a team environment
- Assist with patient transfers
- Communicate with patients professionally and timely
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Performs duties in a fast-paced emergency room
- Must be able to lift and/or move using proper body mechanics and agree to assist staff when ask for assistance
- While performing duties of this job, the Medical Assistant/Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; The Medical Assistant/Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must submit to random drug screenings
