The Business Project Sr. Manager is responsible for building and leading a team of project managers to support the Medical, Clinical, and Affordability (MCA) segment of Enterprise Portfolio. As an experienced people leader, this Senior Manager will guide a team of business project managers across multiple functional areas and influence cross-organizational teams. This leader directs the development of resources, plans, and tools to optimize delivery of the MCA portfolio, enabling the strategy prioritized by executive leadership. The Senior Manager will be working with Business Areas, Operations, Technology organizations, and external entities to ensure quality of scope delivery and the on-time implementation for MCA projects.
The Core Solutions Project Managers will provide end-to-end project management for initiatives from inception, through execution, and implementation ensuring all project objectives are achieved. This role directs the planning and execution of project activities optimizing delivery of the portfolio projects enabling the enterprise strategy. This position will require leadership skills to drive the end-to-end project delivery plan for both large initiatives and smaller enhancements in a matrixed environment. The Project Manager aligns to Core Solutions department project delivery best practices, supporting all delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid), ensuring efforts complete with intended scope, quality, and within allocated budget and timing constraints.
This role works within the Core Solutions organization, collaborating with Clinical, Product, Go-To-Market/Sales, Pricing, Underwriting, Digital, Marketing, Communications, Analytics, Finance, Evernorth, Service Operations, Technology, Quality Engineering, Legal, Compliance etc. to deliver complex, cross-functional projects. The ability to partner with peers, as well as external suppliers, to ensure innovative, quality solutions is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage a team of Project Managers while also performing the role of Project Manager on assigned initiatives. Lead MCA Projects and optimize the end-to-end project management disciplines and workflows related to project delivery. Partner with applicable business and technology areas in implementing multi-functional project initiatives. Provide leadership and management guidance to the team and across multiple areas supporting all delivery methodologies: Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid.
+ Provide direction and leadership for aligned Project Managers and assigned initiatives to deliver long-term improvements to the organization's performance.
+ Lead a multi-functional team to provide end-to-end project management for project initiatives, ensuring from inception through execution and implementation that project objectives are met. Utilize and contribute to best practices and governance within the Project Delivery team.
+ Responsible for delivering large scale project initiatives.
+ Advance concurrent efforts and ensure project delivery meets requirements regarding quality, schedule and cost.
+ Direct team to execute and enable the project delivery solution plan in alignment with strategy set by executive leadership so product development optimizes the approved product portfolio.
+ Ensure from inception through execution and implementation that project scope is realized.
+ Ensure Operational readiness components and operational structure are tracked and executed within the scope of the deliverables.
+ Drive to market delivery timelines while also adapting to a dynamic work environment and setting priorities to best support organizational performance and impact.
End-to-End Project Management Delivery
+ Responsible for delivering mid to large scale project initiatives.
+ Build and manage a detailed project plan, with key milestones, priorities, dependencies/sequencing, from inception to closure. Plan will incorporate tasks that represent all work needed for a successful implementation.
+ Identify, track, mitigate and escalate (when appropriate) project risks, issues, and decisions. Develop contingency plans and triggers to invoke.
+ Drive to market delivery timelines, while also adapting to a dynamic work environment; set priorities to best support organization performance and impact.
+ Provide transparent and accurate project status reporting at all times, in alignment with stakeholder and sponsor input.
+ Identify and develop relationships with sponsors and key stakeholders to establish and monitor progress against goals and objectives. Understand communication dynamics and build/execute a plan to meet stakeholder needs.
+ Identify and work to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful attainment of project goals.
+ Utilize and contribute to best practices and governance within the Project Delivery team. Provide oversight and guidance to less experienced project managers on the team.
+ Performs self and team reflection continuously and implements changes to improve team’s effectiveness.
+ Provide direction, leadership, and feedback into the Cigna Pharmacy / Core Solutions operating model contributing to improvement in the organization’s long-term operating effectiveness.
+ Self-directed and capable of overseeing a team to ensure the successful delivery.
+ Advance concurrent efforts and ensure project delivery meet requirements regarding scope, quality, schedule, and cost.
+ Direct team to execute and enable the project delivery plan in alignment with strategy set by Cigna Pharmacy / Core Solutions executive leadership to support the optimization and impact of the product portfolio.
+ Skilled at project management monitoring and control practices, ensuring accurate utilization of project resources.
+ Ensure technical, sales, and operational readiness components are tracked within the scope of the deliverables.
+ When required, perform the role of Operational Readiness lead, ensuring staffing, training, procedures, and communication development, change management, business validation, and contingency planning are identified, tracked, and executed.
Qualifications/Knowledge
+ 8+ years of project management experience leading medium and large cross functional initiatives
+ Exemplary core project management skills including multiple aspects of the PMBOK and the Scaled Agile Framework (certification a plus)
+ Ability to lead, manage and influence teams in a heavily matrixed environment.
+ Strong oral, written, presentation and communication skills.
+ Strong collaboration & relationship building skills.
+ General understanding of the PBM and/or Commercial Healthcare landscape
+ Quickly comes up to speed on business and project knowledge.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 122,000 - 203,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
