Baywood's Endoscopy Unit maintains 10 procedural rooms, along with utilization of the OR, as needed. The Operating Room (OR) has 10 suites. We care for a wide range of adult patients that require both elective and add-on emergent surgical procedures. We also provide surgical services to meet our level 3 trauma designation at BBMC. Our surgical service lines consist of the following specialties; heavy focus in orthopedics, general surgery and urology. We also provide services for plastics, GYN, robotics, spines, and dentistry. We staff 24 hours Monday-Friday and have a 12 hour shift on Saturday and Sunday. Staff are required to take call in addition to regular scheduled shifts to meet the demands of our patient load.

Shift: Days, 6:30am-5pm
Schedule: Will vary, Monday-Friday
On Call: Yes, weekend and holiday rotations required.
Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable.
Banner Baywood Medical Center is a 342 bed hospital serving the health care needs of the dynamic and growing East Valley communities of metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. Our Emergency Department treats a variety of ailments and offers advanced treatment areas, with 68 beds, seeing over 50,000 patients per year. We are certified as pediatric prepared as well as designated as a Trauma level 3 emergency room. In addition, our comprehensive orthopedic unit is one of the nation’s premier orthopedic programs. The unit's commitment to excellent patient care has earned a 4 STAR rating by CMS and repeated recognition as having one of the Top 100 Orthopedic Programs in the U.S. by The Health Network and HCIA, Inc. Because we are also a leader in neurological medicine, people throughout Arizona come to us when they need treatment for conditions of the brain, spine and nervous system.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists with prescribed endoscopic procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assists with case preparation, pulls appropriate instruments and supplies. May assists with maintaining the accurate information on preference cards. Reviews case for procedural needs and ensures the correct diagnostic and therapeutic devices are available.
2. Assists in performing endoscopic procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Anticipates and prepares for changing needs.
3. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash. Responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and storage of scopes and reusable devices. Ensures that unused supplies are returned appropriately.
4. Demonstrates knowledge of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, assists with the proper set up of appropriate equipment and positioning devices/patients in procedures rooms. Assist with the cleaning/stocking of procedure rooms and carts.
5. Supports the operations of the department by assisting with clerical duties as needed.
6. This position works under direct supervision and follows pre-established procedures and protocols. Internal customers are patients and all levels of staff. External customers may include practicing physicians and patient families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Certification for BLS is required.
This position requires clinical knowledge normally associated with 1 - 2 years of previous experience in a health care setting. Must demonstrate effective organizational, communication and human relations skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certification preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
