What will you be doing?
Performs intricate pre-test measurements to test engines components according to standard procedures and test procedure specifications using manual as well as sophisticated testing and measuring equipment such as profile analyzer (PDI), snap gauges, micrometers, dial indicators, and digital scales. Cleans and prepares parts for above measurements. Demonstrates effective communication, coordination, and cooperation with internal and external customers. Interfaces with engineers and supervisors to provide technical data and support; interacts with clients as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs inspections on engine hardware using metrology instrumentation. Accurately measures engine camshafts, lifters, pistons, and rings in accordance with test specifications. Identifies and rejects out-of-spec pre-built hardware. Marks or tags/labels parts and transports parts for photography.
- Chemically cleans and weighs engine/transmission components to include; bearings, values, rockers/crossheads, vanes, and gears according to test specifications.
- Operates walnut blaster
- Maintains inventory of test parts accepted for engine build/testing.
- Performs prescribed calibration checks on the measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and keeps an updated log of these calibrations checks available for review at any time.
- Assists in troubleshooting mechanical and instrumentation problems
- Performs final quality control screening on all completed test packets and performs referee ratings on and off Company premises.
- Visually inspects and screens parts prior to measuring. Then performs inspections on engine hardware using metrology instrumentation. Accurately measures engine camshafts, lifters, pistons, and rings in accordance with test specifications. Identifies and rejects out-of-spec pre-built hardware.
- May assist/operate microcomputer to access measurement programs, to record and track data, and to generate report data, summaries, and graphs. Performs data maintenance functions.
What qualifications do you need?
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiar with hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of computer, data entry experience, accurate keyboarding skills and data processing fundamentals necessary. Excel and Outlook experience desired.
- Must be a team player with a "can do" attitude, take initiative and highly motivated.
- Must demonstrate initiative and be willing to ask questions to clarity instruction, as needed
- Good verbal and written communication skills desired. Must possess good interpersonal and oral communication abilities.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of lubricant testing requirements highly desired.
- May be required to work evenings as well as some weekends to handle peak demand period.
- May be contacted after hours for operational assistance, therefore, provide a contact number within 30 days of acceptance.
