- BS degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution
- 2 years of experience in product engineering, process control, additive manufacturing, or other advanced manufacturing field
- Ability to work in self-directed and team environments, balance multiple projects, and prioritize commitments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to communicate at all levels of an organization
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or MS degree from an accredited institution in one of the following engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics, Materials, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering
- 5 years of experience in product engineering, process control, additive manufacturing, or other advanced manufacturing field
- Demonstrated skills in solving complex issues using analytical tools, designed experiments (DMAIC process), and analysis of results
- Proficiency in interpreting customer specifications, blueprints, and requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with customers on new products, processes, and materials for manufacturability and quality
- Experience creating and interacting with 3D CAD models (Siemens NX preferred)
- Experience designing, implementing, and qualifying new equipment, parts, or processes in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) or the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Experience in additive manufacturing (3D printing)
- Experience with the operation of injection molding machines, and the injection molding process
- Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of investment casting materials (polymers, ceramics, and metals)

This 3D CORE ENGINEER position will be in Morristown, TN Plant and will be responsible for ongoing development and implementation of the 3D core process, The person in this position will be part of a high-performance multidisciplinary R&D team aiming to advance the state-of-the-art in aerospace manufacturing. Howmet Aerospace has developed a cutting-edge technique to produce ceramic cores for use in the investment casting process. An ideal candidate will be part of a team to drive consistency and quality in the 3D Core process. The 3D Core process allows customers to design parts that can increase the performance and efficiency of the next generation of turbine engines and will be key to maintaining Howmet Aerospace's position as the premier supplier of the most complex investment castings in the world. The person in this role will be expected to:
- Develop a set of robust process controls and inspection plans to ensure the success of the 3D core process.
- Identify new inspection techniques for characterizing sophisticated geometries made out of multiple materials.
- Collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to take new ideas from R&D to high-volume production.
- Build close relationships with both internal and external customers to balance the desire for increasing performance and capability while maintaining a robust manufacturing process.
- Lead the business in improving and documenting robust best-practices and design rules for producing 3D Cores
- Balance multiple projects, with a variety of stakeholders, to ensure timely delivery of critical results
- Share results with others at all levels of the organization and act as change agent to drive continuous growth and advancement
