Technical Engineer/Architect 1: $4,037.25 / biweekly
What you will be doing:
Engineer/Architect 1
Under general direction, perform structural engineering analysis and design for marine facilities. Marine facilities include the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) ferry terminals, boat harbors and seaplane facilities. Design work will include new design, refurbishments, and repairs.
Responsibilities include:
Engineering analysis, calculations, detailing, drafting, specifications and cost estimates.
Sealing and signing final contract documents.
Working closely with other members of the design group to compile and finalize projects.
Participation in the biennial inspection program of bridges and other waterfront structures.
Assisting in the management of design consultants for projects that cannot be designed in-house.
Assisting with technical issues during Construction.
Technical Engineer 1
Under general direction, perform highly technical structural engineering analysis and design for marine facilities. Marine facilities include the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) ferry terminals, boat harbors and seaplane facilities. Design work will include new design, refurbishments, and repairs. Knowledge of steel, concrete and wood design is required.
Responsibilities include:
Leading and coordinating engineering analysis, calculations, detailing, drafting, specifications and cost estimates.
Sealing and signing final contract documents.
Serving as a team leader and mentor to other engineers in the design group.
Managing the biennial inspection program of bridges and other waterfront structures.
Managing design consultants for projects that cannot be designed in-house.
Assisting with technical issues during Construction.
As this position will assist in design and inspection of AMHS ferry terminals, boat harbors, seaplane facilities and other waterfront structures, it will occasionally require:
Travel in small aircraft
Travel by boat
Performing inspections over water in remote areas

Who we are looking for:Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of:
Civil Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain facilities such as buildings, transportation systems, water and sanitary systems, and other public works systems.
Structural Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods related to the design and analysis of complex structures using a variety of materials. Structures may include aerospace systems or structures, and other determinate or indeterminate systems.
Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results. Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules.
Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
