Engineer (Equipment Reliability and Maintenance Program (All Levels)
SUMMARY
The Equipment Reliability (ER) Engineer position is responsible for learning the plant site, procedures, programs and organization along with obtaining engineering qualifications as required in the allotted timeframe. The ER Engineer will support station activities related to providing technical support for the operation, maintenance and testing of plant systems. Additionally, the ER Engineer will perform engineering evaluations to either address technical plant issues or regarding changes to plant equipment planned maintenance strategies, serving as an advocate for maintaining balance between plant reliability and financial excellence, while maintaining nuclear, personnel, and environmental safety.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• There is no Certification or Licensure required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
EQUIPMENT RELIABILITY SUPPORT:
Provides technical support for operations and maintenance personnel regarding plant systems.
• Reviews performance of plant systems and recommends changes regarding applicable maintenance and/or testing.
• Leads the interface with other departments and regulatory agencies by leading meetings and discussions to provide specific information and analysis to questions/problems regarding planned maintenance.
• Prepares and reviews engineering evaluations as needed (i.e., equipment trends, analysis of planned maintenance strategies, economic justification, drawings, evaluations, etc.)
• Provides independent engineering support to Maintenance that requires field investigation, inspections, and solutions to problems.
• Develop and maintain solid understanding of the use of equipment history, technical conscience, and knowledge of component failure modes, mechanisms and degradation influences for component and system advocates.
• Support actions to support equipment work schedules to optimize plant resources.
• Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identifies appropriate correction actions.
• Knowledge of design, operations, maintenance, and testing, preferably nuclear power.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accept ERO position as needed.
• Accept outage position as needed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Environmental and physical requirements are subject to crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods of time; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• Travel may be required.
• May be required to carry phone.
WORK LOCATION/Remote
• Site – Due to the nature of the work, this position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 3 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 2 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
Staff Engineer/Spec Plant Eng
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 5 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 3 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
Consulting Engineer/Spec Plant Eng
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 8 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 4 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
Principal Engineer/Spec Plant Eng
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology. (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE
• 12 years of engineering, maintenance or operations experience in which 5 years is nuclear power related. (Required)
• Engineering Management Team and GM approval is required to advance to Principal Engineer level.
Note 1: One (1) year experience may be credited for an engineering master’s degree, two (2) years’ experience may be credited for an engineering PhD degree. Engineering intern experience may be credited one-for-one for engineering experience, i.e., 1 month engineering internship may count as 1 month engineering experience at the discretion of the applicable Engineering Manager.
Note 2: The number of years of experience listed above represent the minimum unless approved otherwise by the GM of Engineering on a case-by-case basis; additional years of experience may be required to earn promotion at the discretion of the applicable Engineering Manager.
