About this position:
The Gas Transmission Planning Engineer will play a critical role in analyzing and planning for reliable capacity within the gas transmission system. This position involves providing technical support for both daily and seasonal system operations.

About this job:
- Develop gas system base cases and perform computer studies, using gas hydraulic flow simulation software
- Perform engineering analysis, create drawings, and spreadsheets
- Compile and write technical reports and present results to management and/or internal customers
- Make recommendations to management on system issues and long range capital improvements
- Coordinate projects between distribution and transmission planning with operations, supervisors, construction managers, and other stakeholders
- Provide technical support for construction and operation activities
- Manage hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly transmission gas load forecasting
- Support the development of new projects through the identification of required facilities in support of business development opportunities or customer requests
- Calculate and maintain station capacities and compare to current customer demand
- Work extended hours including evenings and weekends in response to acute service needs
- Maintain compliance with all related reliability standards including industry and regulatory
- Assist during emergency situations and response and section shut-down procedure development
- Job time is spent in office and field environment with exposure to all field hazards and weather
- Perform individual lifts up to 35 pounds
- Travel to jobsites, off-site meetings, and trainings up to 15% per year

- Demonstrate a good safety record, positive safety attitude, and safety awareness
- Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, Metallurgical or similar is preferred)
- Must have the ability and willingness to obtain a Professional Engineer's License
- Knowledge of the function and operation of gas transmission preferred
- Thorough knowledge of CFR 49 Parts 191 and 192, Onshore Piping Regulations is preferred
- Good organizational skills and have the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks or projects and stressful situations.
- Excellent computer, communication and technical writing skills
- Self-motivated and be able to work independently or in a team environment
- Valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one is required
- Recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions
