The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components. This role requires high creativity to innovate and improve product designs. Additionally, the engineer will oversee and coordinate manufacturing, tooling, and delivery processes to create efficient and reliable products.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Design, build, and purchase, from concept to commission, parts designed to improve the performance of separation equipment.
Managing projects within the timeframe, budget, and performance expectations.
Overseeing the development and manufacturing of physical prototypes for testing.
Assemble and test prototype systems.
Develop and maintain key supplier relationships.
Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements.
Field commissioning and installation of designed parts.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology.
Ability to invent new parts, generate detailed drawings, and estimate costs.
Logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to present designs to internal teams (sales, engineering, etc.).
Works well in a cross-functional, open-communication environment.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
10-25% travel within North America expected.
Willing and able to enter hydrocarbon and chemical processing facilities.
Wear steel toed boots, fire retardant clothing, hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, gas monitors, and applicable safety gear, when in the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks experience.
Machining experience with lathes or mills, manual or CNC.
Recent graduates considered; 2+ years’ experience preferred.
ADA Requirements:
Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job. Visits to our manufacturing facility and suppliers’ facilities is required to monitor active projects and address design issues.
