Substation Design Engineer
Las Vegas, NV (onsite)
6+Month Contract
Provides engineering design services for substation facilities, ensuring construction is on schedule and within committed resource allocations. Applies prescribed methods and standard practices in performing specific tasks within projects and assists other engineering staff on more complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Develops economical, technically feasible, reliable substation physical and control designs with supervision and guidance. (25%)
- Provides technical management of multiple substation projects, working collaboratively with consulting firms and stakeholders. (25%)
- Ensures quality control on projects by providing construction support, coordinating with construction forces, and job site inspections. (25%)
- Coordinates and communicates with other departments on procurement tasks with supervision or guidance. (15%)
- Assists and guides other departments in solving non-standard substation design problems. (15%)
- Provides accurate cost estimates for budgeting and cash flow requirements. (10%)
- Contributes to the development of project schedules and updates the project management system. (10%)
- Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, codes, and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited school.
- Knowledge of substation/control engineering principles, economic analysis methods, budgeting procedures, utility engineering practices, and construction methods.
- Skills in oral and written communication, and interpersonal relations.
- Proficient with PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- General office environment; no special physical demands.
