ZF Transmissions Gray Court, LLC has job openings for the position of Engineer II - Plant Quality based out of its location in Gray Court, SC.
Job Duties: The position is for an Engineer II - Plant Quality in the automotive industry. The position is responsible for testing and identifying quality issues that affect the performance of automotive components (specifically, electric motors and transmissions), and which are critical to the safe functioning, control, and operation of motor vehicles. The employee will specifically work on the following automobile products: Transmissions for hybrid powertrains; E-motors for electric vehicles; 8-speed automatic transmissions; and 9-speed automatic transmissions; Perform electric motor functional performance evaluation; Monitor variation in distributions at final test to identify defects and address issues to responsible departments; Conduct final test commissioning, as well as initial verification on main systems of test bench; Perform sensor calibration, setup updates, and communication between systems; Perform NVH (noise vibration & harshness) investigation at EOL (end of line) results; Define limits adjustments & perform new calculation strategies for issues not yet detected (includ. definition of new orders (gear defect detection), frequency bands (oil flow detection) or cepstrum (damage detection) calculations to be include in EOL detection system); Monitor manufacturing/EOL processes and assess product quality to determine adequacy, capability, and ability to comply with customer and company specifications; Utilize quality tools along with problem-solving and lean manufacturing techniques to support Assembly line/Receiving inspection and Machining areas, with final goal to improve quality final test KPI’s performance; Troubleshoot test bench malfunction; Suggest correction based on NVH and functional performance; Sensor calibration, tester alignment & component changes; Elaborate independent analysis of acoustic measurements/vehicle testing with automatic transmissions to identify noise sources & vibration paths; and Evaluate impact of design changes in noise and vibration performance, at test bench and vehicle level.
Engineer II - Plant Quality
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related engineering field, plus 3 years of experience in any occupation in which experience was gained working with electric motors and automotive testing, and demonstrated experience with: Electric motor functional and NVH testing (Torque vs Speed test, Torque at speed test, Torque Ripple test, Noise order tracking and Frequency band tracking); Troubleshooting Brushless permanent magnets electric motors; NVH analysis, frequency spectrum, order spectrum, and sonogram; Final Test NVH and Functional data processing software, including Anovis signal analyzer, LMS, FAMOS, or LabVIEW; NVH test development and validation; Limit definition and limit maintenance using SyPa, Anovis, or LabView; Objective vehicle testing, including instrumentation setup and data analysis; Subjective vehicle testing using the SAE rating scale; Minitab or Python statistical analysis; GD&T drawing interpretation; Interpretation of Klingenberg measurements to analyze helical gear measurement results; and Problem solving certification (Six Sigma Green Belt or Shainin).
