We are seeking an Engineer II.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
Ensures the completion of engineering projects on time and on budget with limited guidance from senior engineering personnel. At all times act in a manner consistent with the DD culture.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
- Use DDMS tools (3P, 5S, Kaizen events) to eliminate waste, improve operations, and launch new products.
- Utilize SolidWorks software to generate tooling, fixtures, gauges, plant layouts, product designs, and equipment drawings using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing as required.
- Design and build prototypes and production fixtures as required using fabrication, welding and machining skills.
- Assist in the implementation of Standardized Work and Job Instruction preparation.
- Effectively engage plant supervision to support production improvements through time studies, training and auditing of personnel. Provide clear concise feedback as required.
- Specify and introduce new technologies, methodologies, processes, tooling, gauges, fixtures and equipment to improve processes, plant performance and reduce costs.
- Write technical reports, product literature including owner’s manuals, parts lists, installation instructions, and Job instructions to document test results, product function, or production processes.
- Improve performance of technical teams through training, personnel development, and the use of standard work.
- Enter, check, and maintain complex BOMs, ECNs, and coordinate changes with affected departments as required.
- Lead in the design, testing and performance validation of prototypes, including internal lab testing and external field testing.
- Support the use of DFMEA, PFMEA as parts of the NPD process through training and facilitating DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
- Lead small NPD core teams to develop new designs to meet or exceed company/customer standards for safety, quality, performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost
- Lead cross function project teams in support of operational strategic initiatives.
- Partner effectively with staff at other DD locations to share best practices and resources as required.
- May prepare annual reviews of technical team members as required focusing on the improvement and development of skills.
WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:
Education: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Strong oral and written communication skills, Preferred experience with: DFMEA, PMFEA, PPAP, FEA,SPC, Control Plans
Communication Skills: Communicate effectively with other employees at all locations. Sound interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. TCM/PDC Experience using data acquisition equipment desirable.
Mathematical Skills: Understand and able to use trigonometry, and complex concepts of algebra and geometry as required. Understanding of advanced math, calculus, advanced graphing and charting.
Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and understand technical problems involving known variables in non-standard situations.
