ENGINEER/SCIENTIST - Naval Sea Systems Command

Summary You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTIST in the SPECTRUM WARFARE DEPARTMENT (WX), EXPEDITIONARY ELECTRONIC WARFARE SYSTEMS DIVISION (WXQ), EMERGING CAPABILITIES BRANCH (WXQV) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15. Responsibilities You will be responsible for leading and overseeing specific cloud-related projects for Crane. You will provide leadership and expertise in current-market technologies that deliver infrastructure to accelerate the development, test, and deployment of secure, software to DoD. You will understand the needs of DoD components, abstract problems and requests, to build scalable infrastructure and platforms that enable software development product and programs. You will develop and apply principles, theories, and techniques of computer science, software engineering, hardware design, enterprise computing, commercial and cloud adoption. You will lead and coordinate the efforts of Cloud Architects, Data Engineers, Network Engineers, Computer Scientists, IT Specialists and contractors in solving complex and far-reaching enterprise architecture issues for weapons platforms. You will develop, implement, and ensure compliance with plans, policies, standards, infrastructures, and architectures that establish the framework for cloud-enabled weapons platforms. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent grade level) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist overseeing or providing technical direction on the development and integration of computer hardware and system architecture to ensure compliance with engineering plans, policies, and principles for the improvement and success of weapons platforms. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
