The Design Quality Engineering team is based in Naples, FL and provides expertise in risk management, product quality, process control, verification & validation (V&V), and continuous improvement. Design Quality Engineers incorporate quality methods and tools, including applied statistics and external standards, to design experiments, develop test protocols, conduct investigations, and improve products and processes. The individual chosen for this position will assist in these activities as a part of New Product Introduction, Sustaining Activities, and Non-conformance Investigations. Preferably, the ideal candidate will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or another related field.
This internship will run from January 2025 – June 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
Main Objective:
Co-op will work Design Quality Engineers (DQEs) to gain experience in risk management, product quality, process control, verification & validation (V&V), and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design Baseline and risk management cleanup activities, including modifying and updating Design Traceability Matrix (DTMs) and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (dFMEAs), risk trace updates, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) documentation and routing.
- Partner with Design and Quality Design Engineers to identify, update, and route documents for release within the Arthrex PLM system.
- Support Market Product Initiation (MPI) Projects, including Design Control Documentation, Quality Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) development, Engineering Change Reviews, Complaints analysis, and Documentation Change Reviews.
- Assist with spreadsheet development by pulling data and setting up exports to support the design and development teams. DQEs create tools and metrics utilizing spreadsheets to facilitate and monitor work completed within the PLM systems. These spreadsheets will aid in improving the quality and compliance of our products and increasing speed to market by reducing project time waste.
- PLM transition review and updates to verify documentation transition, from Agile to Windchill, and perform updates for items that did not transfer as desired. Depending on the implementation timing of other organizational projects, this task may also include support for transitioning items to CodeBeamer.

Education and Experience:
- Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree in Engineering required, preferably in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical. A college junior or senior preferred. (Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.)
- Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements /Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables preferred.
- Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures preferred.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
