The Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety Manager is a key leader responsible for the development and implementation of the site end to end Engineering roadmap including capital projects, technology transfer, performance and reliability of plant technical equipment and systems, continuous improvement initiatives plantwide from unloading to packaging and in compliance with our EHS and Quality standards. As a Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety Manager your roles and responsibilities will include:
- Develop all aspects of project management; project definition, project planning, capital expenditure management, and technology transfer associated with capital projects, new materials, and new products conferring with management.
- Support the design, specification, installation, start up, troubleshooting, and improvement of equipment and systems.
- Develop new insights and drive innovative engineering and processing solutions to reduce costs and improve process capability and quality.
- Oversee the quality and productivity of the maintenance department, and its ability to deliver high levels of service.
- Accountable for ensuring compliance with the company local, state, and federal standards and guidelines related to Safety, Quality, and Regulatory.
- Direct a team of EHS, Maintenance and Engineering/Controls talents, providing them coaching and direction for best performance and development.
- Engage stakeholders and cross-functionals in design decisions to ensure projects satisfy quality, cost, service, and environmental health and safety criteria, and manage third party contractors and engineering design firms effectively.
- Collaborate with and coordinate suppliers, internal stakeholders, procurement, and engineers on plant floor systems controls.
- Manage EHS budgets to include Safety Programs, PPE, Medical Supplies, Medical Tests, Waste Removal, & Environmental Services.
- Manage EHS Programs to include hazardous & solid waste programs; wastewater & stormwater programs; first responders; fork truck safety; industrial hygiene & medical surveillance programs.
- Drive implementation and execution of our Human & Organizational Performance systems at the site.
- Facilitate relationships with vendors, external agencies, corporate partners to ensure regulatory compliance & benchmarking of best practices.
- Drive EHS Regulatory & Standard compliance.
- Responsible for performing job hazard analysis, identifying risks, & providing PPE as needed to mitigate risks that cannot be eliminated. Ensure job hazard analyses and critical risk assessments are performed to identify risk, leverage higher level of controls for reduction in SIF and potential SIF (pSIF) incidents, and provide appropriate PPE as needed to mitigate risks that cannot be eliminated.
- Manage incident reporting via Incident Management System and supervises mandatory corporate EHS reporting.
- Understands the technical requirements of Environment, Occupational Health and Safety (EHS), Quality, and Microbiology in factories and research facilities
- Works with fellow site leaders to identify and provide the resources and guidance that will ensure implementation of EHS and Quality systems
- Provides direction for improving safety, environment, and quality conscious behavior in factories and research facilities
- Communicates the need for, and impact of, EHS and Quality standards
- Establishes effective strategies for implementation of EHS and Quality standards and regulatory conformance
- Recognizes and acknowledges EHS and Quality performance in sites and individuals
- Takes corrective actions in a timely manner to mitigate potential EHS or Quality incidents
- Other functions that may be assigned.
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety Manager who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety Manager would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering.
- 7+ years of functional experience in manufacturing engineering/supply chain operation
- 3+ years of strong project management / engineering from project concept through implementation
- Experience managing, developing teams effective coaching and feedback skills
- Working knowledge of production processes and control systems.
- Working knowledge of Quality and Environmental Occupational Health and Safety standards
- Highly collaborative and comfortable with working with cross-functional teams and various levels of management
- Strong technical communication skills
- Proficiency with Google applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Able to support a 24/5 operation including weekends and holidays based on project demands.
