Responsibilities:- NV5 is seeking an entry level Engineering Geologist Intern for our Ventura, CA location. Responsibilities will include managing geotechnical and construction materials testing projects.
- Services to our clients for this position will include:
- Discussion of the scope of work with the client, preparation of proposals, coordination of field and laboratory services.
- Performance of soil test borings, soil and groundwater sampling, and construction testing services.
- Performance of environmental and geotechnical analyses, preparation of subsurface investigation and environmental assessment reports, and management of construction materials testing projects.
Prerequisites for employment include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or closely related field.
- GIT registration, or eligibility to attain same within 6 months.
- Up to 2 years of relevant experience preferred, but not required.
- Working knowledge of computer software, including word processing and industry-specific environmental and geotechnical software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)

- This position will be subject to outside environmental conditions, including weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments.
- Work will primarily be in the field involving long-term standing and frequent walking as well as include common hazards at construction and project sites.
- Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 10-12 hours a day on occasion.
- Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
- Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
- Additional physical duties may be required, as necessary.
The pay range for this California position is $20.00- $23.50 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
