Graduate Civil Engineer
Urban is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer, primarily for construction inspection, for our Buffalo, NY office.
Construction Inspection: This position will be performing inspection on complex Civil Transportation projects in Western, NY including Erie, Niagara, Chataqua, Cattaraugus, Genesee and Monroe Counties.
Design : An entry level civil design engineer will be expected to utilize standard practices and techniques in daily work, able to adjust and correlate data; recognize discrepancies in results; and follow a series of related detailed steps or processes.
Construction Inspection Responsibilities
- Inspect and document work performed by construction contractors to verify conformance or non-conformance with related contract documents, plans and specifications.
- Perform technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout.
- Make and check engineering computations.
- Conduct field tests in all phases of construction by assisting Senior Inspector.
Design Responsibilities
- Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment, under the direction of an experienced engineer, using prescribed methods.
- Create horizontal and vertical roadway alignments.
- Plan and design small/medium projects.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Prepare maps and plans.
- Assist in inspections and evaluations of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.
- Prepare reports and forms.
- Design tasks associated with roadway, water and sewer infrastructure improvement projects.
Requirements :
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or other closely related field.
- E.I.T preferred.
- Basic computer skills for reviewing construction drawings/specifications and completing project documentation are required.
- Navigate construction sites in diverse types of terrain and weather conditions.
- Work hours may include day and/or night shift work, and weekends, based on the type of operation taking place.
- Communication - Both verbal and writing skills are required.
- Candidates must also have their own vehicle and have a valid driver's license. Candidates will receive mileage reimbursement for duty-related driving.
