About the Job
The Fairbanks Sewer & Water team has an opportunity for an Engineering Intern based in Fairbanks, AK. Fairbanks Sewer & Water is comprised of Utility Services of Alaska, Inc., Golden Heart Utilities, and College Utilities Corp. The Engineering Intern assists with basic site surveying and inspections related to ongoing construction projects. Additionally, the intern will assist in archiving and cataloging engineering drawings, field notes, and other documents. The intern may also be asked to perform basic engineering analysis and calculations using a variety of methods.

What you'll do
- Perform basic engineering analysis and calculations.
- Assist engineering staff with basic site surveying and site inspections.
- Expediting/assisting with clerical and support tasks as assigned.
- Producing engineering reports documenting analyses performed.
What you bring
Education and License
- Acceptance into a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree program
- Alaska Driver's License
Nice to Have
- Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering major preferred
- Completion of 2 nd year of college at an accredited institution preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to efficiently use MS Word/Excel and AutoCAD.
- Alaska Driver's License.
- Able to work well in a fast paced, high-energy environment.
- Able to work independently and have a positive attitude.
- Ability to use AutoCAD is preferred.
Please note:
- Normal office conditions prevail for a majority of internship.
- May visit construction sites, undeveloped areas and potential project locations on military installations in Alaska.
- The work can involve sitting for extended periods at a work station, some walking and occasional lifting to approximate a 40-pound box.
- Occasionally works in industrial locations that are noisy, dusty, and have strong odors.
