Role Summary:

Internship Term: 

 

Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027

Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements. 

 

If selected, you’ll be considered for exciting projects like custom controller design, full vehicle builds, and unique modifications to existing Rivian models, such as transforming an R1T into a specialized vehicle for niche applications. Candidates may work on tasks spanning controls development, harnessing, hardware/software integration, and hands-on electrical design.

Responsibilities:

• Design and Development: Participate in designing custom controllers, non-production builds, and vehicle conversions tailored to specific applications.
• Hands-on Builds: Work with hardware, software, and integration for unique projects, building non-standard assets that demonstrate versatility.
• Vehicle Engineering: Engage in projects like modifying existing models (e.g., converting an R1T to a firetruck or other specialty vehicle) for testing, demonstrations, and creative applications.
• Collaborative Innovation: Contribute to projects requiring broad scope, quick turnarounds, and collaborative energy with a team of electrical and mechanical engineers.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related field.
• Previous internship experience in a related field.
• Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and hands-on experience in building and troubleshooting.
• Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex projects independently.
• Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Electrical simulation tools (e.g., SPICE)
  • Arduino with C++ for interfacing compatible chips
  • PCB design using KiCad, Altium, OrCad, or Eagle
• Participation in extracurricular technical clubs (e.g., Formula SAE, rocketry, robotics) is highly preferred.

Pay Disclosure:

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law. 

 

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
