Internship Term: 

 

Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027

This role focuses on hands-on, chassis-related work, including suspension structures and brake system design. Ideal candidates will be proficient or highly interested in CAD, design, and practical, hands-on tasks such as welding and fabrication. The role also welcomes candidates with a background in mechatronics or electrical skills, such as Arduino, to support interdisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities:

• Chassis and Suspension Design: Support structural design work for chassis components, including suspension structures and braking systems. Participate in the full design process to create and improve Rivian’s vehicle components.
• CAD and Fabrication: Utilize CAD software for part design and contribute to the hands-on aspect of projects, with welding and fabrication opportunities available. Collaborate on complex builds alongside senior engineers.
• Special Projects and Programs: Contribute to unique projects within Rivian’s Special Projects team, with opportunities to learn and develop practical engineering skills.
• Electromechanical Support: Apply mechatronics skills for systems that integrate both electrical and mechanical functions. Familiarity with Arduino or other electronics tools is highly advantageous.

Qualifications:

• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelors in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering or similar fields.
• CAD Proficiency: Strong skills in CAD software with an interest in design and hands-on fabrication, including welding.
• Hands-on Enthusiast: Background in or passion for hands-on work, including experience with Formula SAE, project cars, or other mechanical projects. 
• Electrical/Mechatronics Knowledge: Exposure to or experience with Arduino and mechatronics is beneficial.
• Previous Internship Experience: Prior hands-on experience in an internship or related role, with a high level of independence and problem-solving ability.
• 40 hours/week, full-time

Pay Disclosure:

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law. 

 

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
